Rapper Big Sean is proving one man can help change the world

(FOX 11) - With a Grammy nomination under his belt, music artist Big Sean feels it is time to up-the-game in giving back.

From his hometown Detroit to South Africa, Big Sean is so much more than music.

There was big love for Big Sean in Hollywood. Fans lined up outside Shoe Palace on Melrose to meet him this month. The rapper is still in awe when fans show such appreciation.

Many were well aware of his Sean Anderson Foundation.

He has returned to his hometown of Detroit to mentor in music and has even built a music studio at his high school, the very place he used to sell mix tapes in the hallway.

He partnered with Project Knapsack which partnered with children in Detroit and school children in South Africa to provide knapsacks and school supplies.

Then there's the fundraising for the Flint water crisis. He says $100,000 has been raised.

He credits his grandmother and mother for their influence. His mother was a teacher. His grandmother a police officer and one of the first black female Captain in World War II.

Big Sean is living by his song "One Man Can Change the World," which earned him that Grammy Nomination.

Big Sean was at the Shoe Palace for his new celebrity sock by Stance. At $16 a pair, he is the latest superstar to collaborate with Stance. Others include Rihanna and Harley Davidson.
