Female hiker who went missing found dead, foul play not suspected
RIVERSIDE, Calif. - A 53-year-old woman who disappeared during a hike on Mount Rubidoux was found dead on Monday at a construction site just south of the location, but authorities said there were no indications of foul play.
Esther Hollister of Riverside was reported missing Sunday after she failed to return from the hiking excursion Saturday afternoon, according to the Riverside Police Department.
A search had been underway since Sunday afternoon, and about 10:20 this morning, a person called 911 reporting a dead woman in the 4800 block of Palm Avenue, on the south side of Ryan Bonaminio Park, police said.
"Detectives responded, along with the Riverside County Coroner's Office, and determined the body was that of Ms. Hollister," according to an RPD statement.
"The coroner's investigation will determine the (exact) cause of death, but foul play is not suspected."
