91-year-old Holocaust survivor killed in hit-and-run in Valley Village

LOS ANGELES (FOX 11) - A 91-year-old Holocaust survivor was left to die after he was struck by a hit-and-run driver in a marked crosswalk in the Valley Village community of Los Angeles on June 17, police said.

Early Monday morning, as Gennady Bolotsky was walking his beloved dog Leelah, he was knocked to the ground by a white pickup truck as he crossed Magnolia Boulevard at Wilkson Avenue. Video released by the Los Angeles Police Department shows the driver not stopping, instead, running over Bolotsky and driving away from the scene eastbound on Magnolia.

Bolotsky died hours later at a local hospital.

Now, his family is pleading to the public to help track down the driver that killed their loved one while he was crossing the street.

Born in 1928, Bolotsky survived the Holocaust and able to escape the Nazi occupation as a Jew in the Ukraine, only to lose his life decades later on a San Fernando Valley street.

Bolotsky's family hope someone knows something about the white Toyota Tundra pickup with a camper shell and the person behind the wheel.

The Hit and Run Reward Program Trust Fund, established in 2015, offers rewards of up to $50,000 to those who give information that leads to identification or apprehension of individuals involved in these cases.
