Activists gather at Koreatown 7-Eleven to protest recent ICE raids
LOS ANGELES, Calif. (FOX 11) - After learning agents from the Department of Immigration and Customs Enforcement would be visiting a 7-Eleven store in Koreatown to conduct interviews and an audit, human rights activists decided to stage a protest outside of the store, holding signs that read, "Immigrants are welcome here."
It was last week when ICE raided close to 100 7-Eleven stores, including 5 here in Los Angeles.
While some people were arrested in other states, none were arrested in Southern California. ICE issued a statement saying there were would be more raids to come.
But not today, after 20 minutes into their rally, the owner of the 7-Eleven told the activists, ICE agents called to cancel their visit.
