Former Vice President Al Gore has a message for President Trump: Resign!
LOS ANGELES, CA (FOX 11) - Former Vice President Al Gore has a message for President Trump: Resign!
"I don't mean to be flippant about this," Gore told FOX 11 Los Angeles' Elex Michaelson, host of "Good Day LA" and "The Issue Is," in an exclusive interview.
"I think everyone knows to discount what this current Administration is doing and saying. They've made the EPA the CPA! The Coal Production Agency! Instead of protecting the environment," Gore said.
Gore met with then-Pres. Elect Trump during the president transition, but said Mr. Trump hasn't implemented his suggestions. "I don't think he's prepared to listen to advice about the importance of clean air and clean water."
Gore is the chairman and founder of The Climate Reality Project. The group is hosting its largest-ever training for more than 2,000 climate activists at the Los Angeles Convention Center.
As part of the 3 day event, Gore teaches volunteers how to give the presentation he made famous in the Oscar-winning documentary "An Inconvenient Truth" and the sequel "An Inconvenient Sequel: Truth to Power."
"This is a global emergency. It truly is! Look at the temperatures going to record levels, look at the fires!" Gore said.
He believes those denying climate change should simply look out the window.
"Don't take it from me. You don't even have to take it from me or even have to take it from the scientists, who are virtually unanimous, take it from Mother Nature! Every night on the TV is like a nature hike through the Book of Revelation."
The former Vice President is encouraging voting in the Midterm elections. "As significant as it is to change the light bulbs, it's way more significant to change the laws and policies." Gore continued. "We need to put a price on carbon, we need to conserve energy, we need to switch over to renewable types of electricity."
California's leaders are currently battling publicly with the Trump Administration over environmental standards. At issue? Whether California's fuel efficiency standards are too much of a burden for car companies?
Gore gives credit to the Golden State. "California has been the leader among all 50 states, partly because of the leadership of Jerry Brown. He's a friend, but I'm a fan. California has set the standard that other states are now aspiring to."
Even though Gore is frustrated by the Trump Administration, he said that progress continues. "We're not moving fast enough, but we're continuing to move in the right direction."
The full interview with former Vice President Al Gore will air on an upcoming episode of "The Issue Is: with Elex Michaelson" on FOX 11 Los Angeles at 10:30 P.M.
