Missing 13-year-old Lancaster girl last seen on Valentine's Day, authorities say

Detectives with the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department are seeking the public's help in finding a missing 13-year-old girl who was last seen on Valentine's Day.

Skylar Mannie left her home around 2 p.m. on Feb. 14, authorities with the Lancaster Sheriff's Station said.

There was a report of someone matching the girl's description the next day at Target near 10th Street West and Avenue K.

Mannie was last seen wearing a gray hoodie with the word "LOVE" on it, blue jeans and black shoes. She is described as being African-American, stands approximately 5 feet, 5 inches tall, 130 pounds and has black hair and brown eyes.

Anyone with information was asked to call Detective Tanner with the Lancaster Sheriff's Station 661-948-8466.

Authorities were also seeking to identify a child whose body was discovered Tuesday inside a duffle bag along a hiking trail in Hacienda Heights.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department confirmed the female victim found is not Mannie, shutting down rumors that had been circulating on social media.

"Thank you for all of your calls and concern. We have been anxiously awaiting information through the night and can officially share Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department can confirm the female victim found in Hacienda Heights is NOT 13 year old Skylar Mannie who was reported missing out of Lancaster," the department wrote on Thursday. "LASD Homicide Detectives are working diligently to solve the case of the deceased child found in Hacienda Heights. Our hearts go out to her loved ones. We know Homicide Detectives will not give up their attempts to identify her."
