California may label coffee a cancer risk
(FOX 11) - That cup of Starbucks could be declared an official cancer risk in California.
It all depends on what a judge has to say after taking a hard look at Proposition 65, the "Safe Water and Toxic Enforcement Act" passed in 1986, which requires businesses and public places to post warnings about possible cancer risks.
Coffee has acrylamide, one of the 900 possible carcinogens on the World Health Organization list. If a judge declares coffee can cause cancer, every place that serves up coffee will have that Prop 65 sign.
