CHP motorcycle officer killed after crash on 15 Fwy in Lake Elsinore

LAKE ELSINORE, Calif. (FOX 11) - A California Highway Patrol motorcycle officer has died after being struck by a vehicle on the 15 Freeway in Lake Elsinore on Saturday, authorities said. He was airlifted to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The crash prompted all southbound lanes to be closed.

The crash happened at about 4:30 p.m. when a sedan hit the CHP motorcycle officer near Nichols Road.

Traffic was being diverted off Lake Street, according to Caltrans.
