Armed suspect taken into custody following SWAT situation in Koreatown
LOS ANGELES, Calif. (FOX 11) - A SWAT team responded to a barricaded suspect inside a store in Koreatown on Tuesday afternoon.
According to the Los Angeles Police Department's Olympic Division, officers responded to the area of 7th Street and Vermont Avenue after reports of a shooting. LAPD reported that the shooting victim is in stable condition, however, the armed suspect ran into a dollar store located in the 700 block of Vermont Avenue.
Police told FOX 11 that there were customers and employees inside the store sheltering in place. It is unclear how many people were inside the store.
Officers contained the location and notified the SWAT team who assisted in evacuating the employees and surrounding business.
SkyFOX flew over the Koreatown strip mall, which showed SWAT team members in tactical gear outside the A&A Shine Bargain store.
The suspect was taken into custody by the SWAT team around 5 p.m. No additional information has been released at this time.
