Developer plans to build 28-story high-rise at current site of 'Amoeba Music'
HOLLYWOOD, CA (FOX 11) - New plans are in the works to demolish the iconic 'Amoeba' music store and replace it with a new high-rise building.
Ameoba has been selling music on Sunset Boulevard since 2001 and considers itself to be the largest independent record store in the world.
But, a developer wants to tear it down and build a 28-story building in its place as early as 2019.
The L.A.City Council still needs to approve the plans before any construction starts.
Amoeba Music has known about the possible development for more than a year and says when the time comes, they'll set up shop at a new location within the city.
No need to worry Amoeba Music isn't going away!
