Explosion reported in downtown Los Angeles
LOS ANGELES (FOX 11) - Firefighters and utility crews investigated an underground explosion early Sunday afternoon in the 200 block of S. Hill Street in downtown Los Angeles.
Responding crews found three displaced manhole covers with smoke emanating from below, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.
A witness said it "sounded and felt like a bomb" had gone off with manhole covers being blown into the air and people panicking.
No injuries have been reported. There have been no reports and no indications of a power outage in the area.
The L.A. Department of Water and Power has been notified of the incident.
The incident was reported at about 12 p.m. The cause is under investigation. Fire officials did not immediately release additional information.
