FedEx truck catches on fire, spreads to brush, shuts down I-5 in Castaic

CASTAIC, Calif. (FOX 11) - A fire alongside southbound Interstate 5 in Castaic shut down all lanes backing traffic up for miles Wednesday afternoon.

A FedEx truck caught on fire that then spread to the nearby brush along the Golden State (5) Freeway just north of Lake Huges Road.

The fire scorched less than an acre before firefighters were able to extinguish the flames. Traffic lanes began to open up soon after but traffic continued to be slow through the area.

Crews will remain on scene to mop up and clear the wreckage.

No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
