Man shot to death during officer-involved shooting in Atwater Village

LOS ANGELES, Calif. (FOX11) - A man is dead after an officer-involved shooting happened in Atwater Village.

Officers responded to the area of Appleton Street and Brunswick Avenue around noon Thursday on a report of a man with an "edged weapon'' at the location.

The Los Angeles Police Department says when officers arrived they encountered the individual and a shooting ensued.

According to police, the individual was struck by gunfire and pronounced dead on scene.

No officers were injured during the shooting.
