Suspect killed in officer-involved shooting at Baldwin Hills Crenshaw Mall

LOS ANGELES, Calif. (FOX 11/ CNS) - A suspect armed with a knife was shot and killed in an officer-involved shooting at the Baldwin Hills Crenshaw mall Tuesday evening, according to authorities.

Cell phone video from witnesses shows the intense moments inside the mall when LAPD officers opened fire on the suspect after he reportedly would not drop the knife which witnesses describe as a butcher knife.

Witnesses say the suspect appeared to be threatening shoppers. One witness told us they heard the officers patiently telling the suspect to put the knife down, but he kept gesturing and refusing to comply.

More video shows nearby store windows blown out from the gunfire.

The mall was locked down for several hours as LAPD sealed off the whole area.
