Pink Taco restaurant hosts Thanksgiving for less fortunate

HOLLYWOOD, Calif. (FOX 11) - Anthony, his wife, and 2 young boys weren't planning anything special for Thanksgiving, but their plans changed with an invitation to 'Pink Taco'.

Hipsters know it as a cool spot to eat and drink on the edge of the Sunset Strip, but the past 5-years it's been transformed into a Turkey Day party for hundreds of people, homeless, formerly homeless, and their families.

It's put on by 'People Assisting the Homeless' or PATH, a multi-faceted social services agency which dates way back to 1984.

PATH helped Anthony, a veteran who spent about 6-months living in his Chevy Suburban with his family, receive subsidized housing at far below market rates.

The agency is currently developing hundreds of more units of 'permanent supportive housing' which means not just a physical structure but support services that go with it. Counseling, job search, healthcare...in short, all are helping people re-integrate into society.

Today, something as simple as a turkey dinner, and a smile goes a long way towards helping people help themselves.
