Police seek man suspected of assaulting special needs man in Westminster

WESTMINSTER, Calif. (FOX 11/ CNS) - Police in Westminster searched Thursday for a man suspected of assaulting a special needs man at a fast-food restaurant and seen later on video arguing with the victim.

Police responded to a reported assault about 7 p.m. on Sept. 17 at the In-N-Out restaurant at 6292 Westminster Blvd., according to a statement from the Westminster Police Department.

"The victim, a special needs man, was punched several times because he was not moving quickly enough after placing his order,'' the statement said.

"Attacking vulnerable members of our community is not only cowardly, but it is despicable,'' police said.

Cell phone video police said was shot after the assault shows the suspect walking around the property waiting for his food while the victim asks the man why he called him names and hit him.

The suspect is a white man in his 40s, 6 feet tall and 160 pounds with scruffy brown hair and was wearing a white t-shirt and dark khaki shorts.
