Suspect arrested for allegedly stabbing 63-year-old man at Maywood doughnut shop

An arrest has been made in the attempted murder of a 63-year-old man at a Maywood doughnut shop earlier this month, officials said Wednesday.

Officials from the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department were expected to release more information about the suspect at a news conference Thursday afternoon.

Deputies from the East Los Angeles station responded on the afternoon of Feb. 10 to Yum Yum Donuts located in the 5900 block of Atlantic Avenue. When deputies arrived, they found the victim with a knife lodged in his upper body, according to Michelle Sanchez of the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.

The victim was taken to a hospital and was expected to survive, she said.

The suspect was last seen heading north on Atlantic Boulevard and out of view.
