Venice townhall meeting over issue of homelessness turns into mass chaos

Hundreds gathered at what was supposed to be a townhall about a proposal to build a homeless shelter in Venice, but it quickly turned into unorganized chaos leading to arguments left and right.

Tensions boil over in Venice Wednesday night as what was supposed to be a townhall became a mass of people blocking each others signs and vying for a chance to question LA councilman Mike Bonin.

It's all over a proposal to build a homeless shelter at this former metro bus lot at 100 E. Sunset in Venice and it would house 100 people.

And some don't like the idea, but councilman Bonin supports the proposal.

The townhall was supposed to be a chance for him to get feedback from the public, but residents say that wasn't the case.

But there were some who did get a chance to talk to the councilman.

One man became irate at a sign being held up in opposition to the shelter.

He told us that Venice needs to have a heart and avoid demonizing the homeless.
