Magnitude 3.5 earthquake rattles Yorba Linda area
YORBA LINDA, Calif. (FOX 11) - A magnitude 3.5 earthquake struck early Wednesday in the Yorba Linda area.
The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) says the quake was reported at 5:06 a.m. PST about 5 miles southeast of Yorba Linda, a suburban city in Orange County and about 37 miles southeast of downtown Los Angeles.
It was recorded at a depth of about 2.4 miles.
A few aftershocks were also reported in the area, measuring at a magnitude 1.8 and 2.2, according to USGS.
There were no immediate reports of damage. While there are many variables involved, geologists say damage does not usually occur until the earthquake magnitude reaches somewhere above 4 or 5.
