Fire damages textile, fabric businesses

Nearly 120 firefighters knocked down the flames in just over an hour.

Multiple textile and fabric businesses were damaged after a massive fire broke out at a commercial building in downtown Los Angeles late Thursday night, fire authorities said.

Firefighters with the Los Angeles Fire Department responded to a call of a greater alarm fire, called the "Crocker Fire," on 9th and San Pedro streets in downtown LA's Fashion District around 9:30 p.m.

Video from SkyFOX showed heavy smoke and large flames from the building, which were visible for miles.

LAFD officials said it took nearly 120 firefighters to knock down the flames within an hour.

As of Friday morning, street closures remain in effect in the area.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
