Stabbing at Oakland Coliseum after A's game

A person was stabbed Thursday afternoon at the Oakland Coliseum after the A's game let out, police said.

A man may have been stabbed Thursday afternoon at the Oakland Coliseum after the A's game let out, police said.

At a news conference Friday, Deputy Chief Fred Shavies said that police are investigating just what happened.

Shavies said the man attended the game and then went home to a house in Contra Costa County.

After some time, he saw that he was bleeding and he "admitted to being somewhat inebriated" and believes he might have been stabbed at the Coliseum, Shavies said.

The man ended up going to a hospital suffering from some type of injury at 4 p.m., police said.

The A's played their final game in Oakland on Thursday and the game was over about 3 p.m.

Other than that, police said that the game, where 45,000 fans attended, was largely peaceful.

There were only four arrests for public intoxication and security also ejected two fans who ran onto the field.

Anyone with information on Thursday's stabbing is asked to contact the Felony Assault Unit at (510) 238-3426 or the TIP LINE at 238-7950.
