LAFD releases video of helicopter rescue during Woolsey Fire in Malibu

The Los Angeles Fire Department has released video of one of its helicopter crews rescuing three people from a mountain peak as a wildfire bore down.

On November 9, this helicopter was making water drops in the fire, but then was redirected to the hills of Malibu to make a rescue. The pilots make their way through thick columns of smoke to arrive a Castro Peak, which is the highest peak in the middle part of the Santa Monica Mountains.

The pilots find themselves in a treacherous situation on the narrow ridge with lots of buildings, communication towers, and parked cars, making it hard to land the helicopter. And on top of all that, they're running out of fuel.

Moments later, three people and two dogs appear from the shrubs. One of the dogs needed a little convincing to hop on the helicopter. The helicopter took off and rescued everyone safely and unharmed.
