Man holds person hostage while trying rob bank in Anaheim, police say
ANAHEIM, Calif. - A man is in custody after trying to rob a bank and trying to hold one of the BMO employees hostage in Anaheim.
The Anaheim Police Department responded to the alleged robbery attempt in the 4500 block of East La Palma Avenue. When officers arrived, the suspect was allegedly in the middle of kidnapping one person and had refused to come out of the bank.
The alleged hostage situation prompted police to call in SWAT officers and tactical negotiators to the scene.
The person who was held by the suspect was eventually let go safely and was not hurt in the tense ordeal.
The suspect eventually was arrested and SkyFOX caught the moments where he was being escorted to one of the police cruisers around 6 p.m. Wednesday night.
