CLINTON TWP., Mich. (WJBK) - A 13-year-old led a Macomb County Sheriff's deputy on a brief chase in Clinton Township late Saturday night.
Authorities received a call that a black Nissan Altima was driving erratically. The deputy spotted the car at a red light around 11:30 p.m. on Metropolitan Parkway near Harper Avenue. The deputy turned on his lights and the car pulled over.
However, after a few seconds the car took off again. The car made it a short distance before the driver lost control. The car spun out on the side of the road and crossed the grassy median and landed on the eastbound lanes of Metropolitan Parkway.
Immediately after, the deputy's dashcam video shows two kids getting out of the car and start running.
Authorities caught a 13-year-old boy and learned he was driving the car with his 8-year-old sister in the passenger's seat. The girl was sent home with her mother and the boy was taken to the Macomb Juvenile Justice Center.
Authorities say the car belonged to the girlfriend of the children's father.
