17 arrests made in Wilmington gang investigation sweep
WILMINGTON, Calif. (FOX 11 / CNS) - An anti-gang investigation in the Wilmington area Wednesday resulted in 17 arrests, police said.
The multi-agency investigation, dubbed Operation Tidal Wave, involved the service of federal racketeering warrants targeting members of one local gang, the Los Angeles Police Department reported.
"They had a stronghold within the Wilmington area,'' LAPD Lt. Chris Ramirez told FOX11. "(These arrests) will make a big impact, by reducing the street violence in the area.''
Among the crimes allegedly committed by suspects named in the warrants were drug offenses, assaults on police officers, and at least one murder.
