PASADENA, Calif. - Investigators with the Pasadena Police Department say a suspect who took off following a hit-and-run crash that left two dead is in custody.
The two-vehicle crash was reported around 9:15 p.m. in a residential area located at the intersection of North Raymond Avenue and East Penn Street on Wednesday. The area is near Washington Elementary STEM Magnet School.

Authorities said the driver of a white Lincoln Navigator was traveling northbound on Raymond Ave. at a high rate of speed when the SUV collided with a Nissan sedan and a parked vehicle. Following the crash, the driver and their passenger ran away from the scene.
A man inside the Nissan was declared dead at the scene, while a woman was taken to the hospital where she died.

On Friday – about two days after the deadly crash – Pasadena PD announced 30-year-old Jeffrey Butler, of Altadena, was arrested. Butler was booked on suspicion of vehicular manslaughter with gross negligence, hit-and-run resulting in death and possibly violating parole.
Earlier in the investigation, the search was on for a second suspect, but it is unknown if police are still looking for that person.
