LOS ANGELES - Feeling lucky?
While no one hit the big Mega Millions lottery jackpot in Tuesday night's drawing, two lucky people in California are taking home $226,328 each after matching 5 numbers.
One ticket was sold in Morgan Hill at the Safeway on E. Dunne Ave., and the other ticket was sold in Yucca Valley at The Hero Market on Old Woman Spring Blvd.
The winning numbers for the Dec. 17 drawing were 56, 66, 67, 68, 69, and Mega 18.
The next drawing for the Mega Millions jackpot now worth an estimated $825 million will be held on Friday, Dec. 20.
How much do you get after taxes?
There are 334 million reasons to dream, especially what you would do with the jackpot money. However, one thing all lottery winners have to take into account is the fact that their prizes will be taxed.
So how much do you really get after taxes?
It depends on a couple of factors: do you have to pay state taxes where you live? Will you take the lump sum payment or the annuity payout?
According to Mega Millions' website, those electing to take the annuity option get one immediate payment followed by 29 annual payments, a process that is identical to Powerball with their payouts.
