2 men fatally wounded in Moreno Valley shooting

A homicide investigation was underway in Moreno Valley after two men were killed in a shooting early Saturday morning, the Riverside County Sheriff's Department said. 

Deputies arrived at the scene just before 1:15 a.m. to the 24900 block of Sunnymead Boulevard near the intersection of Indian Street where they discovered two men suffering from gunshot wounds. One of the victims was pronounced at the scene and the second victim was rushed to a local hospital where he died, sheriff's officials said. 

Multiple road closures were in place as investigators remained at the scene. Sunnymead Blvd. was closed from all directions from the 60 Freeway westbound offramp to Perris Blvd.

Perris Blvd. from Fir Avenue to north of the 60 Freeway also remained closed. 

Sheriff's officials asked the public to stay away from the area as they continued to conduct their investigation. 

The gunman remains at large. A description of the suspect was not available. 

The names of the victims were not immediately released.
