A 3-year-old girl in Chatsworth is being called as a hero after police said she kept herself and her baby brother alive for several days after their parents' murder-suicide.

"Our little angel was able to keep herself and her brother alive," said Los Angeles Police Capt. Maureen Ryan. "The baby is a miracle baby and the little girl is a hero. She's an absolute hero."

According to LAPD, 46-year-old David Kooros Parsa killed his wife, 38-year-old Mihoko Koike, before taking his own life in the 9100 block of Foster Lane. Inside the home was the couple's 2-month-old son and 3-year-old daughter who were alone for "several days," next to the bodies of their parents.

The couple's bodies were discovered on Sunday afternoon when officers responded to the home after receiving reports of an assault with a deadly weapon.

Police said that both of the children are healthy and doing well in the custody of the Department of Child and Family Services.
