ORANGE, Calif. (FOX 11) - Last month authorities seized nearly 140 small breed dogs from a couple's home in a gated community in Orange.
At the time, investigators described the conditions inside the home of Josephine and Edward Reitkopp as deplorable.
Now your chance has arrived to give them forever home!
Out of the 140 small breed dogs, mostly shih tzus, seized only a third of them (about 50) have recovered enough to receive clearance from Orange County Animal Control, according to Mike Kaviani, OC Animal Care's director.
Please go to OC Animal Care's website and apply if you want to adopt one of these cute dogs.
The OC Animal Care staff will evaluate applications and contact qualified parties to set up appointments to meet the dogs. Once matches are made, the dogs will be spayed or neutered and then can go their new home.
The remaining dogs are still receiving medical treatment. Another round of dogs will hopefully be ready for adoption in the coming weeks.
The small dogs were all taken in May from the home of two prominent Orange County Republican donors who now face misdemeanor animal cruelty charges.
