All lanes on 60 freeway reopened after officer-involved shooting in Chino
CHINO, Calif. - An early morning officer-involved shooting prompted the 60 freeway to shut down for hours in Chino.
Officers with the Chino Police Department responded to Central and the 60 freeway after 6 a.m. for reports of a man armed with a knife.
Police say the suspect refused to comply with the officer’s commands and an officer-involved shooting occurred. According to a statement written by the police department, no officers were injured in the shooting and the suspect was taken to the hospital with superficial injuries.
Very little information surrounding the shooting is known. The shooting prompted the closure of both eastbound and westbound lanes of the 60. Traffic was at a standstill as officials diverted traffic off the freeway in the area.
Both directions of the 60 freeway reopened after 9 a.m.
