American flag stands strong amid wildfires

Amid the destruction, an American flag stood strong in the Pacific Palisades.

The Palisades Fire continued to grow erratically in the Pacific Palisades on Wednesday as howling winds swept through Southern California.

The fire erupted on Tuesday afternoon near the Palisades Hills Recreation Center and by nightfall, 30,000 residents were evacuated. In an update Wednesday morning, Los Angeles County Fire Chief Anthony C. Marrone said they estimate 1,000 structures have been destroyed.

Amid the smoke and devastation, Good Day LA’s Gigi Graciette shared an emotional image – while burnt and tattered, an American flag stood proudly over a mobile home park.
