Anti-Trump protesters picket outside Equinox gyms

A popular gym has been dragged into a political controversy.

Protesters picketed outside Equinox gyms all over the country after its owner announced he will be hosting a fundraiser for President Trump.

Dozens of people marched outside the gym in West Hollywood Friday evening boycotting Equinox and SoulCycle owner Stephen Ross.

“I was a member of this gym, I’m tired of them taking my money and turning around and supporting a candidate who doesn’t me and my community”, said one protester.

Ross, a longtime political donor to both republicans and democrats released a statement insisting the campaign is all about job growth.

The statement reads, “I have known Donald Trump for 40 years, and while we agree on some issues, we strongly disagree on many others.. I have been and will continue to be an outspoken champion of racial equality, inclusion, diversity, public education and environmental sustainability”.

Diversity is a big part of the Equinox brand which some critics say doesn’t fit with Trump’s policy on immigration and transgender rights.

“It’s kind of contradictory to say something like that and take a stand and not really take a full stand in what you believe in”, mentioned another protester.
