Assault suspect arrested in Miracle Mile area
LOS ANGELES - An assault suspect who may have been wielding a pipe was arrested by police Monday in the Miracle Mile area.
Officers responded to the area of Wilshire Boulevard and La Brea Avenue shortly before noon, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
No shots were fired in the arrest, according to police, but reports from the scene indicated that officers may have deployed a stun gun and possibly bean-bag rounds to subdue the person. Reports also suggested the suspect may have been wielding some sort of pipe.
The suspect's name was not immediately released.
Paramedics took two people for hospital treatment of unspecified injuries. One person was believed to be the suspect, but it was unclear who the second patient was.
Traffic was routed away from the area and a stretch of Wilshire was closed while an investigation was conducted.
According to Metro, buses on line 212 were being detoured via Rossmore Avenue between Third Street and Wilshire Boulevard until late afternoon due to the police activity.
