A man suspected of driving under the influence injured ten pedestrians in Fullerton.

At 1:48 a.m.on Sunday morning, Christopher Solis, 22, of Anaheim, drove a red Toyota Tacoma onto the sidewalk, striking several people before hitting a tree and coming to a stop at 100 W. Santa Fe Ave. East of the Orange 57 Freeway, according to the Fullerton police department.

"This red truck jumped the curb, plowed into a number of people, there were multiple people out here on the sidewalk," said Charles Gibbs a security guard working nearby at the time.

Multiple victims were trapped underneath the vehicle but were pulled out by police and bystanders who lifted the vehicle to free them.

"He plowed into all of them, until he hit the tree," said Gibbs.

Ten people, between the ages of 18 and 49, were transported to local trauma centers with moderate to critical-life threatening injuries, police said.

"I was in shock, I just wanted to stay in the car but I just thought I needed to get out and do something to help, because I knew there was a lot of people who got hurt," said Amanda Aguilar who ran over to help.

Dozens of people were on the street at the time, in and around restaurants and bars during closing time.

"It was a chaotic scene with hundreds of people around in the area due to the bar closing time," said Fullerton Police Lieutenant Jon Radus.

The vehicle was smoking at the time of the incident and officers said it had severe front end damage and airbags deployed. Three other vehicles sustained minor to moderate damage.

Police suspected Solis was driving under the influence of drugs and he was arrested for a felony DUI causing great bodily injury.
