San Pedro shooting: 2 killed, 6 injured in shooting at Peck Park
LOS ANGELES - An investigation continues after two people were killed and several others injured Sunday afternoon in a shooting near a car show at a San Pedro park, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.
Reports of a shooting at Peck Park came in just before 4 p.m. Sunday, according to the Los Angeles Police Department. LAPD investigators estimate 500 people were gathered at the park at the time of the shooting for an authorized car show and a softball game.
SkyFOX flew over the park, where first responders could be seen giving chest compressions to an individual. LAPD confirmed that the department had declared a citywide tactical alert for a mass shooting at the park.
In a press conference Sunday evening, LAFD confirmed that two people were killed, but didn't disclose any information about the victims. They also said that LAPD is investigating the possibility that there were multiple shooters, noting several firearms were found at the scene.
No suspect information has been released at this time.
According to the LAPD, there were eight total victims. All eight were taken to local hospitals, where two died and four are listed in critical condition. One victim is in stable condition.
The victims' names have not been released and range in age between 24 and 53 years old.
