5 hurt in Compton drive-by shooting

Multiple people were hurt in a Compton drive-by shooting.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department continues to investigate after five people were hit in a drive-by shooting Thursday evening in Compton

Deputies responded to the area of W. Cypress Street and S. Acacia Avenue around 3:30 p.m. and located multiple victims suffering from gunshot wounds. Originally, officials had said eight people were hit. However, investigators later confirmed five people were struck by gunfire and taken to the hospital. On Friday afternoon, authorities said all victims were in stable condition. 

According to the sheriff's department, the suspect fled the scene, and a description was not available.

Neighbors in the area said they heard multiple rounds of gunfire, adding that this is the third time this has happened in the neighborhood in recent weeks.

At least 5 shot in Compton, LASD says

At least five people were shot in Compton and the suspected gunman remains on the run, according to deputies in LA County.

Witnesses also told FOX 11 that it was a drive-by shooting. 

The details surrounding the motive of the shooting remain unknown.

The investigation is ongoing. Those with information are asked to contact the LASD.
