Video shows altercation between suspect and Bell Gardens police vehicle

A man who allegedly rammed a sheriff's patrol vehicle intentionally in Bell Gardens Thursday was shot and wounded by a deputy, authorities said. Video shows the wild altercation as the suspect hits the patrol vehicle multiple times.

A Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputy was hospitalized and later released after a suspect rammed their vehicle their patrol car multiple times early Thursday morning in Bell Gardens, officials said.

Authorities said a deputy from the East Los Angeles Sheriff’s Station observed a white SUV that was speeding and doing donuts at the intersection of Eastern and Florence avenues.

The deputy attempted to conduct a traffic stop when investigators said the suspect intentionally plowed into the deputy’s patrol vehicle. The suspect then rammed into the patrol vehicle at least four times. By the third time, the deputy opens fire on the suspect.

Officials said even after the deputy-involved shooting, the suspect continued to back up, and slam into the patrol vehicle so hard, it pushed the vehicle against a light pole.

The entire incident was recorded on video and shared with FOX 11.

The suspect was detained and taken into custody. He was taken to an area hospital for gunshot wounds.
