Big rig crashes on Pomona Freeway in Hacienda Heights

A big rig crashed into a guardrail on the Pomona (60) Freeway in Hacienda Heights Friday morning, leaving wood and dirt debris on the freeway and several busted water mains, the California Highway Patrol reported.

The crash took place on the westbound 60 Freeway at Hacienda Boulevard about 1:45 a.m., said CHP Officer Tony Polizzi.

The collision left several water mains broken and leaking water down a hillside. The truck also leaked diesel fuel onto the lanes and destroyed about 150 feet of the wooden guardrail, according to the CHP.

The accident shut down the No. 2, 3, and 4 lanes of the freeway. A SigAlert was declared by the CHP at 3:41 a.m., and the lane closures were expected to last until at least 7 a.m., Polizzi said.

No injuries were reported. The crash remained under investigation by the CHP.
