Brooke White performs live on Good Day LA + backstage interview
LOS ANGELES, Calif. (FOX 11) - Brooke White performed Friday on Good Day LA as part of our Mercury Insurance Concert Series.
The Arizona singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist released her new single "Calico," which is short for "California Country" Friday, June 7.
Fans first got a glimpse of the raspy-voiced blonde during her time on the seventh season of "American Idol."
Her voice is reminiscent of golden era singer-songwriters like Joni Mitchell and Carole King. White is also influenced by country legends she grew up listening to such as George Straight, Reba McEntire, Garth Brooks and The Judds.
She always loved to sing and eventually learned to embrace the innate twang who tried to hold back on for years.
"It wasn't uncommon after a vocal take for a producer to suggest I try another take that was 'a little less country,'" said White.
The proud Arizona native calls Los Angeles home and recorded her latest album in a hideaway studio in Echo Park with producers and co-writers Chris Qualls and Eric Straube.
Along with music, White has also starred in TV movies.
After her performance, we met up with Brooke White backstage for an interview. Check it out here:
