Brush fire burning in Lake Elsinore

A 94-acre brush fire being called the Toro Fire is burning in Lake Elsinore. It is 85 percent contained as of 8:15 a.m. Tuesday. Forward progress on the fire has been stopped.

The blaze was reported shortly before 2:30 p.m. Monday in the 26000 block of El Toro Road. Firefighters have mounted an aggressive attack from the ground and in the air.

Three homes along El Toro Road were evacuated, according to Riverside County Fire Department. Residents from the evacuated homes have since been allowed to return home.

One firefighter had to be taken to the hospital with a non-life threatening illness related to the fire.

There are approximately 175 firefighters on scene battling this blaze along with two helicopters and four airtankers. Crews will remain on scene working on full containment Tuesday.

The cause of the fire is under investigation. No further details were immediately available.
