A man in Sacramento County was arrested for allegedly beheading his 1-year-old son just days before Christmas.
Deputies responded to a house on the 7500 block of Versailles Way in North Sacramento County around 4:15 a.m. Dec. 20 for reports of a family disturbance.
When deputies arrived at the scene, they located a woman outside who said her husband assaulted her and her mother.
The woman's mother was transported to the hospital for non-life threatening injuries.
Deputies attempted to contact 28-year-old Andrey Demskiy, but he refused to answer the door and surrender, officials said.
Deputies then learned that his 1-year-old son was alone in the house with him. They soon forced their way into the house and took Demskiy into custody.
Deputies then made the gruesome discovery of a severed child’s head in the bedroom where Demskiy was detained.
Investigators say Demskiy was initially involved in a domestic violence incident with his wife and mother-in-law. Once they exited the house to wait for deputies, Demskiy used a knife to behead and murder his son.
Detectives arrested and booked him into the Sacramento County Main Jail, where he remains in custody ineligible for bail.
Demskiy is scheduled to appear in court on December 24.
