Did debris on tracks cause the train derailment in Lincoln Heights?
A train derailment that happened over the weekend caused more than a dozen cars to go off-track.
LOS ANGELES - While the trains are back up and running again, crews with Union Pacific continue to clear the tracks after a train derailment in Lincoln Heights over the weekend.
The derailment, which happened Saturday near the intersection of San Pablo Street and Valley Boulevard, ended with thousands of empty boxes being left behind by cargo thieves.

Authorities investigating train derailment in Lincoln Heights
At least 17 cargo trains derailed near Lincoln Heights.
No one was injured and the cause of the derailment of the 17 cars remains under investigation.
On Monday, Union Pacific officials tell FOX 11 there has been a huge increase in cargo thefts, with at least 90 containers being broken into every day across Los Angeles County. Leftover cartons, boxes and packages are left behind after thieves break into containers and pull out the goods.

WHAT CAUSED THE DERAILMENT?
Could the piles of debris play a factor in the incident? It is highly unlikely since locomotives are heavy enough to rip through anything on the tracks.
Still, there is a possibility, according to experts.
