Caught on camera: Speeding driver slams into CHP cruiser during wrong-way-driver investigation
COSTA MESA, Calif. - A man driving an SUV plowed into a California Highway Patrol cruiser while officers were conducting a wrong-way-driver investigation in Costa Mesa early Sunday morning.
CHP officers closed the 55 Freeway near Victoria Street due to a wrong-way-driver. A man driving an SUV sped through the closures and slammed right into a CHP cruiser around 3:30 a.m., police said.
Multiple people were injured in the collision. The extent of their injuries was not disclosed.
No officers were injured in the crash.
Both the wrong-way driver and SUV driver were arrested.
