Taco stand attacker identified

The woman caught on camera attacking a taco stand in Watts has been identified. Police are tracking her down.

The woman caught on video attacking a taco vendor in Watts after she allegedly refused to pay for her food is in custody, the Los Angeles Police Department confirmed to FOX 11 Wednesday. 

The incident happened at Ortiz Tacos just after 6:30 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 6. According to the taco vendor, the woman, identified by police as 36-year-old Renee Latrice Hines of Bakersfield, refused to pay for her tacos, and when she was confronted, she got violent. 

Investigators said the woman punched and pepper sprayed one of the workers at the stand. That's when someone started filming the incident.

Woman attacks taco stand workers in Watts

The woman apparently refused to pay for her tacos, the vendor said.

Video showed the woman getting even angrier, reaching over the stand and hitting the worker more, and even grabbing the sign in front of the stand and threw it at the person filming her, before driving away in a purple Lexus

According to the LAPD, Hines was booked for assault with a deadly weapon. Her bail is set at $30,000.

On Friday, Aug. 11, the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office charged Hines with two counts of battery and two counts of unlawful possession of tear gas and one count of using tear gas.

Ortiz Tacos told FOX 11 they plan on pressing charges.
