CHP: Motorcyclist performing stunts killed after attempting to flee from officers

A man was killed after he was seen doing stunts on his motorcycle on the 5 Freeway in the San Fernando Valley neighborhood of Arleta early Thursday morning, police said.

Authorities received multiple calls about a group of motorcyclists filming while doing stunts and tricks on the northbound lanes of the 5 Freeway.

A group of about 10 motorcycle riders had stopped traffic while they were being filmed doing tricks on the freeway near the Terra Bella Street exit at 1:35 a.m., according to the California Highway Patrol.

California Highway Patrol officers attempted to pull over one of the motorcyclists when he lost control and slammed into a freeway wall at the Terra Bella Street exit.

The man was given CPR by two officers and a news photographer. He was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.

CHP confirmed the victim was a man in his 20s, but his identity was not immediately disclosed.
