Massive fire breaks out in Pasadena, Altadena, prompting evacuations

As firefighters worked around the clock to respond to the massive fire in the Pacific Palisades, another fire broke out in LA County – this time near Pasadena.

The "Eaton Fire" was first reported near Altadena Drive and Midwick Drive a little after 6:15 p.m. on January 7 near the Altadena-Pasadena area. 

At last check, the fire had spread to 1,000 acres with 0% containment, according to Cal Fire.

FOX 11's crew was at the scene in Altadena as a group of nursing home residents were being evacuated from the area.

In addition to family members and loved ones living in nursing homes, animals were also seen escorted out of the dangerous fire. FOX 11's Gina Silva caught up with a duo that was escorting horses from the fire scene in Altadena.

The Eaton Fire marks one of the three fires that broke out in Los Angeles County that forced evacuations on January 7. The Palisades fire not only destroyed homes and schools in the Pacific Palisades, but it also forced evacuations in parts of Malibu, Santa Monica and West Los Angeles. The other fire, Hurst fire, broke out in Sylmar, threatening nearby homes and buildings.
