College student killed in Redondo Beach hit-and-run as police search for driver

Authorities are searching for the driver of an SUV that struck and killed a 21-year-old college student in Redondo Beach.

Angelina Pinedo was crossing the street with her sister just after 9 p.m. near the intersection of Aviation Boulevard and Grant Avenue when she was struck by a black Audi SUV, Redondo Beach police said.

The sisters were in the crosswalk at the time of the incident. The driver of the SUV did not stop, according to authorities.

She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Pinedo, a junior at San Francisco State University, was in town visiting family and was the youngest of six siblings. Family described her as a "gentle soul."

"Our family has suffered a tremendous loss. Our lives are forever changed," Matha Torres, Pinedo's sister, told FOX 11.

The vehicle was described as a black Audi Q5 with front end damage and has a partial license plate number of "7MB." It also has damage to the windshield and hood, police said.

Anyone with information about the incident was asked to contact Redondo Beach police Investigator Clint Daniel at (310) 379-2477 ext. 2721 or by email at clint.daniel@Redondo.org.

A GoFundMe has been set up to help the family with funeral expenses.
