Crews battling fire near Lake Piru
VENTURA COUNTY, Calif. - Firefighters are battling a blaze that has quickly spread to 3,000 acres with structures threatened near Lake Piru in Ventura County, fire officials said Wednesday evening.
Named the Holser Fire, the blaze was first reported around 2 p.m. Monday on Holser Canyon Road off of Piru Canyon Road.
As of Wednesday evening, the fire is 45 percent contained.
Firefighters set backfires overnight to stop the forward progress of the blaze and were successful.

On Monday, officials said fire crews made progress on the fire and the road closure of Piru Canyon Road was lifted.
An evacuation warning was issued for Piru Canyon Road: north to Lake Piru, south to Highway 126, east to the LA County line and west to Piru Canyon road.
According to the Red Cross, a temporary evacuation point has been established at Fillmore Middle School in Fillmore. If you have evacuated and need assistance their volunteers are ready.

At least 26 residences were being evacuated.
