Deadly Eagle Rock house fire under investigation

An investigation is underway after a person was found dead at the site of a house fire in Eagle Rock, authorities said.

The fire broke out Sunday around 11:30 a.m. at a single-story home on Townsend Avenue, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.

The fire was extinguished in about half an hour.

Preliminary reports stated a person was trapped inside the home. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation, but authorities said firefighters had to deal with "excessive storage" that made it difficult to get inside and reach the room where the fire was believed to have originated.

No other injuries were reported.
